Christa Ovenell - Recipient of two scholarhsips.

CCFS is excited to announce that a BC level I student was recently announced as the recipient of the Funeral Service Association of Canada National Scholarship.   Christa Ovenell was presented with the scholarship on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the Funeral Service Association of Canada's Conference in Kelowna, British Columbia.  This scholarship is awarded to a student in good standing at a recognized Canadian Funeral Service Education program who demonstrates commitment to school, community, and the funeral profession.

Christa was also the recipient of the "Foundation 45" Scholarship in Fall 2018.  Awarded by the Funeral Service Foundation (a subsidiary of the US-based National Funeral Directors Association), this scholarship is open to Canadian students studying in an accredited Mortuary Studies program.  Christa began her studies as a Foundation student and is now apprenticing at Ocean View Funeral Home in Burnaby, BC.

Our academic school year is well under way.  We have a great group of students from six different provinces that have been working hard since September.  Not only are they busy working on their weekly lesons and assignments but will be preparing for seminars and exams in spring. We wish them all luck and success not only with the school program but also with their workplace apprenticeship training.
